This report draws upon the research to date to provide an overview of the links between forest fires, climate
change and the impacts on human health from smoke pollution. The focus is on the short and long-term impacts on health of smoke, an issue which receives little attention once the dramatic images of flames and darkened midday skies have faded from memory for all but the people that were there.
